What you'll do:
As Head of Business Analysis you will play a central role in shaping how business requirements are captured and translated into impactful solutions across a broad spectrum of life insurance products. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with stakeholders from different departments—ensuring their needs are understood and reflected in technical specifications. You will oversee the creation of essential documentation that underpins successful project delivery while managing backlogs aligned with strategic priorities. - Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and process walkthroughs across all core life insurance functions.
- Produce comprehensive business analysis artefacts such as business requirement documents (BRDs), functional requirement documents (FRDs), user stories, process flows, data dictionaries, traceability matrices, and use cases to support project delivery.
- Conduct detailed gap analyses between current-state and future-state workflows for new business processes including underwriting, policy administration, renewals, claims handling, and surrenders.
- Translate both regulatory mandates and evolving business needs into clear functional specifications that guide technology teams towards effective implementation.
- Own and maintain a prioritised backlog that aligns with both business goals and technology roadmaps while balancing value delivery against risk and resource constraints.
- Define user stories with precise acceptance criteria to enable engineering teams to execute efficiently and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Support planning sessions, refinement meetings, review cycles, and governance activities to ensure timely project completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Oversee the mapping of end-to-end product journeys for various life insurance offerings to guarantee that requirements fully support all stages of the policy lifecycle.
- Act as the primary liaison between subject matter experts in the business domain, technology teams, quality assurance professionals, data specialists, compliance officers, and executive leadership.
- Mentor junior analysts by setting documentation standards, guiding estimation processes, supporting issue resolution efforts across workstreams, and contributing to ongoing improvements in business analysis practices.

A solid grasp of actuarial principles product lifecycles distribution models regulatory frameworks—and modern reporting tools will set you apart. - Extensive experience—over 10 years—in business analysis roles within the life insurance sector or related product/platform environments where you have demonstrated deep understanding of industry-specific challenges.
- Proven track record overseeing end-to-end requirements gathering processes including process modelling using tools such as BPMN or Visio as well as user acceptance testing (UAT) management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of life insurance products such as term life, whole life, endowment plans, unit-linked policies (ULIPs), group life schemes, credit life coverage, annuities, riders—and their associated policy lifecycles.
- Familiarity with actuarial concepts like sum assured calculations, premium determination methods, mortality tables usage, surrender value computations, bonus declarations as well as reinsurance structures including quota share arrangements.
- Experience collaborating with agent/broker distribution models; understanding commission structures; managing persistency metrics; interpreting key data points such as in-force policies or lapse ratios; validating outputs using MI/reporting tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Hands-on proficiency with agile backlog management tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps; ability to define clear user stories; familiarity with API/integration concepts (REST/SOAP) for policy administration system integrations.
- Ability to interpret SQL queries for data validation purposes; experience writing SQL is highly advantageous when working with complex insurance data models.
- Demonstrated success presenting findings to C-suite executives or regulators; strong facilitation skills for running workshops or design reviews; structured written communication for producing executive-ready status updates.
- A collaborative approach that fosters positive relationships across multi-disciplinary teams; proven ability to manage ambiguity while making informed prioritisation decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to coaching junior analysts by sharing best practices in documentation standards estimation techniques quality assurance protocols—and championing continuous improvement throughout the team.
