Splunk Observability Engineer
A leading organisation in Bangkok is seeking a Splunk Observability Engineer to join their collaborative technology team. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to take ownership of advanced observability platforms, ensuring seamless visibility into complex systems and applications. You will be at the heart of a supportive environment that values knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
What you'll do:
As a Splunk Observability Engineer based in Bangkok, you will play a pivotal role in managing sophisticated observability platforms that underpin critical business operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve optimising cloud-based log management systems using Splunk technologies while deploying OpenTelemetry Collectors for comprehensive data collection. You will empower users through hands-on support and tailored training sessions designed to foster best practices in observability. By ensuring compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS, you will help safeguard sensitive information while supporting secure operations. Your expertise in Python development will enable you to create custom integrations that expand platform capabilities. Working collaboratively with various internal teams—including development, infrastructure, DevOps, and cybersecurity—you will facilitate seamless integration of data sources, dashboard creation, detector configuration, and alerting mechanisms. Success in this role requires not only technical proficiency but also a commitment to continuous improvement, automation-driven processes, and empathetic collaboration across all levels of the organisation.
- Develop, maintain, and optimise Splunk Observability Cloud and Splunk Cloud platforms to ensure robust log management capabilities across all business units.
- Deploy and configure OpenTelemetry Collectors for comprehensive metrics and traces collection as well as manage Splunk forwarders for efficient log ingestion.
- Provide responsive user support by conducting training sessions that promote effective observability practices and maximise value from Splunk solutions.
- Ensure all observability systems adhere strictly to PCI DSS regulations by implementing compliant processes and monitoring protocols.
- Design and develop Python applications, add-ons, or custom integrations that extend the functionality of Splunk Observability tools to meet evolving organisational needs.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert on observability topics by proposing complementary solutions such as ELK Stack or Grafana when appropriate.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate diverse data sources, build insightful dashboards, configure detectors, and set up actionable alerts.
- Work both independently within your own team and externally with partners or users to deliver high-quality outcomes through co-operative efforts.
- Apply a performance-driven mindset focused on quality assurance and automation to continually improve user experience and operational efficiency.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues effectively in production environments while systematically designing resilient solutions with clarity.
What you bring:
To excel as a Splunk Observability Engineer in this role, your background should reflect substantial hands-on experience with enterprise-grade observability platforms—particularly those built around Splunk technologies. Your technical toolkit includes deep familiarity with OpenTelemetry Collector deployment strategies as well as exposure to alternative monitoring frameworks like ELK Stack or Grafana. Experience integrating AWS cloud services into logging architectures is highly valued alongside strong Linux administration skills spanning both traditional data centres and modern cloud environments. A relevant bachelor’s degree underpins your practical expertise gained over 5-7 years in similar engineering positions. Certifications such as Splunk O11y Cloud Certified Metrics User or Splunk Cloud Certified Architect serve as evidence of your commitment to professional growth but are not mandatory. Beyond technical acumen, your ability to collaborate empathetically with cross-functional teams sets you apart; you bring an automation-focused mindset dedicated to enhancing operational quality while nurturing positive relationships throughout the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience managing Splunk Observability Cloud (including Infrastructure Monitoring, Application Performance Monitoring, Log Observer) as well as Splunk Cloud Log environments over several years.
- Proficiency in deploying and configuring OpenTelemetry Collectors for metrics and traces collection within large-scale enterprise settings.
- Familiarity with alternative observability tools such as ELK Stack (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana), Grafana for visualisation purposes, or Prometheus for monitoring metrics.
- Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services—especially those related to logging infrastructure and storage solutions—in both on-premise and cloud contexts.
- Comprehensive understanding of Linux operating systems administration across hybrid environments supporting mission-critical workloads.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline providing foundational knowledge for advanced engineering tasks.
- 5-7 years’ proven track record in observability or monitoring engineering roles within complex organisations requiring high availability solutions.
- Splunk O11y Cloud Certified Metrics User certification is considered advantageous but not essential; similar certifications are welcomed.
- Splunk Cloud Certified Architect certification is beneficial for candidates seeking further recognition of their expertise.
