What you'll do:
In the capacity of Assistant Merchandising Director (Fashion), you will orchestrate the end-to-end merchandising process within a sophisticated retail environment. Your daily responsibilities will involve designing standardised operating procedures that elevate efficiency across planning, procurement, inbound control, and allocation. You will formalise calendars that impart structure for seasonal launches and monthly reviews while ensuring all stakeholders are aligned through meticulously documented workflows.
- Design and implement comprehensive merchandising operating procedures encompassing planning, procurement, inbound control, and allocation to ensure uniformity across all functions.
- Formalise seasonal and monthly calendars with explicit checkpoints, accountability measures, and documented workflows between Merchandising, Brand Management, Finance, and Logistics teams.
- Establish escalation frameworks for deviations in budgetary allocations, stock levels, deliveries, or margin to mitigate operational risks.
- Serve as the principal interface with brands for confirmed purchase orders and inbound flow management, ensuring strict adherence to approved buy quantities and commercial terms.
- Monitor shipment schedules proactively to address discrepancies or delays before they affect inventory or financial exposure.
What you bring:
To excel as an Assistant Merchandising Director (Fashion), your professional background should reflect substantial experience in merchandising operations within the fashion sector. You bring profound knowledge of merchandise financial planning practices such as OTB governance along with hands-on expertise managing inbound order flows. Your history of working directly with brands or suppliers demonstrates your interpersonal skills in negotiating commercial terms whilst ensuring delivery accuracy. Advanced technical abilities—including mastery of Excel spreadsheets and ERP platforms—equip you to handle complex data sets efficiently.
- A minimum of 8 - 12 years’ experience in merchandising, planning, inventory management, supply chain or financial merchandising within the fashion industry is requisite for this position.
- Expertise in merchandise financial planning including OTB governance and inbound order management is indispensable for driving operational discipline.
- Demonstrated experience engaging directly with brands or suppliers on order confirmations and delivery tracking evidences your capacity to manage complex relationships effectively.
