Country legal counsel

A leading organisation in the automotive industry is seeking a highly experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their management team in Thailand.

What you'll do:

* Provide comprehensive legal advice on daily operations by reviewing, drafting, revising, and negotiating a wide range of contracts and agreements including customer, vendor, collaboration, partnership, development, and business licensing agreements.

* Ensure robust protection and risk mitigation strategies are implemented across all commercial activities within the organisation.

* Oversee compliance with Thai laws and regulations such as data privacy, data security, intellectual property rights (IPR), export control, and open-source matters.

* Handle disputes and litigation by developing effective resolution strategies and managing external legal resources when necessary.

* Lead or support compliance investigations while delivering compliance training programmes to employees at all levels of the business.

* Implement group policies, strategies, and procedures within the legal field to promote legal compliance throughout the organisation.

* Develop and deliver relevant training programmes, contract templates, and guidelines tailored for internal stakeholders.

* Anticipate potential legal issues by developing diplomatic resolution strategies for complex situations.

* Collaborate closely with key stakeholders across the business to provide practical and commercially focused legal solutions that support organisational goals.

* Manage internal and external legal resources including attorneys and legal teams while representing the organisation in Boards, Councils, Committees, and Networks as appropriate.

What you bring:

* Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) is required; a Master’s degree (LLM) or additional qualifications in business or compliance are advantageous.

* Thai-qualified attorney or foreign-qualified attorney with significant experience working within Thailand’s legal framework.

* At least 10-15 years of proven legal experience gained either in a law firm or in-house setting with substantial exposure to commercial contracting.

* Demonstrated expertise in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements relevant to commercial operations.

* Excellent analytical skills enabling you to apply legal knowledge alongside business, technical, and financial insights for value-added advice.

* Proven leadership capabilities allowing you to contribute effectively beyond your core legal responsibilities within broader business conversations.

* Strong business acumen coupled with clear communication skills for representing legal matters concisely to senior management.

* Outstanding presentation abilities complemented by exceptional interpersonal skills that facilitate positive stakeholder engagement.

* High integrity combined with creativity and sound judgment when navigating challenging situations.
