Head of Legal and Compliance (Bank)

A leading financial institution in Bangkok is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Legal and Compliance to take charge of its Legal and Compliance Group.

What you'll do:

* Establish strategic direction for the Legal and Compliance Group by setting governance standards and implementing effective control frameworks across the bank.

* Oversee all aspects of legal consultation including contract management, legal risk assessment, and support for business initiatives as well as strategic projects.

* Supervise Data Protection and Privacy governance as the authority for Data Privacy matters, ensuring full compliance with data protection laws, privacy risk management protocols, and data breach response procedures.

* Develop and maintain robust Regulatory Compliance frameworks that align with banking laws, regulatory requirements, supervisory expectations, and industry best practices.

* Ensure alignment with parent bank policies by overseeing cross-border compliance requirements and regional governance standards within the group structure.

* Manage litigation cases, disputes, regulatory investigations, and relationships with external legal counsel to minimise both legal exposure and reputational risks.

* Strengthen internal controls by collaborating with Risk Management, Internal Audit, and business units to enhance enterprise-wide risk management practices.

* Oversee consistent application of governance standards across all financial group companies including Banking, Securities, Asset Management, and other subsidiaries.

What you bring:

* Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) is required while a Master’s degree is preferred for this senior position.

* Proven track record working effectively with regulators as well as within parent bank structures or financial group environments is highly valued.

* At least 15 years’ experience in legal or compliance roles within banking or financial services industries is essential for success in this role.

* Comprehensive knowledge of banking regulations as well as corporate governance frameworks is necessary.

* Demonstrated leadership experience managing multiple legal or compliance functions at a senior management level is vital.

* Exceptional stakeholder management skills combined with analytical thinking abilities are important for navigating complex organisational dynamics.

* Excellent communication skills are needed to convey intricate legal concepts clearly to both internal teams and external partners.

* High levels of integrity coupled with professionalism are expected at all times when representing the organisation externally or internally.
