Hiring in Sales & Marketing (Healthcare): Guide and Trends in 2025

Opportunities abound for sales and marketing professionals as Thailand’s dynamic healthcare sector continues to evolve, spurring demand for new roles and skills.

There has been a growth in generic products within essential medicine as more newcomers entered the market, lowering prices and creating a more competitive business environment. On the other hand, within high-cost medicine, positions related to government and policy positions have seen a marked increase. This has driven up demand for talent with skills in health technology assessment and health economics.

The luxury healthcare and wellbeing space also enjoyed a significant increase in self-paying patients – a trend particularly prevalent in consumer healthcare, aesthetics and wellness centres.

“Across the board, companies are after candidates with hybrid skill sets. Those with experience in Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and in direct-to-consumer backgrounds have been highly sought after,” reveals Natiya Saul, Director at Robert Walters Thailand.

Read on to find out more about Natiya’s expectations of the labour market and hiring trends for Thailand’s Sales & Marketing professionals in 2025, with an emphasis on the healthcare sector.

Companies vie for top talent

In the coming year, Natiya believes that candidates will maintain higher salary expectations as the healthcare industry looks out for niche skills amidst a talent shortage. The sector will place ‘plug and play’ talent as their top priority as they seek out candidates who can hit the ground running fast, but they will also consider hiring talent based on potential.

Against this backdrop, companies will also ramp up efforts to retain talent, providing counteroffers, retention bonuses and internal career development opportunities.

Hiring driven by regulatory requirements, new products, market players

Talent with business acumen, learning agility and experience in health economics and health technology assessment will be in high demand. Professionals in market access and government affairs are heavily sought after as the market is short of qualified candidates with relevant experience. Companies will also seek out product marketers to support new product lines, while new market players will look for experts who can support them in regulatory affairs.

More selectivity in the job search

Companies must consider candidate motivations if they are to find successful hires in today’s candidate-driven market. Natiya finds that candidates are drawn to stable companies with a ‘values-based recognition’ philosophy that acknowledges behaviours aligned with organisational values. They also consider whether the company’s culture and working style aligns with their own. Other preferences include hybrid work arrangement, flexi-benefits and generous annual leave entitlements.

“Most candidates are open to moving jobs, but they are now more selective about what they accept,” says Natiya. “They really weigh a variety of factors, assessing compensation, job stability, the hiring manager and company culture, as well as whether there are growth opportunities like working on a new product in the pipeline.”

Empower employees to grow their careers

While compensation and benefits are important, candidates in this space are ambitious and driven, and they feel most engaged when they are given opportunities to advance their careers within the organisation. Besides promotions, this could look like talent development programs, an expanded remit, or a regional assignment to broaden horizons.

“Imbuing a sense of authority and empowerment is key,” Natiya affirms.

Smaller talent budgets expected

In 2025, companies will likely have tighter budgets, leading to smaller increments that may not always meet candidate expectations.
