An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Application Engineer to become the first in-country application engineering specialist for a leading global manufacturer within the automotive sector.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Application Engineer based in Bang Na, Bangkok, you will be at the forefront of technical engagement with automotive clients throughout Southeast Asia. Your day-to-day activities will involve working hand-in-hand with customers to understand their unique challenges and deliver bespoke engineering solutions that meet their needs. You will lead product development initiatives from initial concept through validation while supporting sales efforts by providing clear technical guidance. By conducting impactful presentations and training sessions, you will help elevate both client understanding and internal capabilities. Your ability to analyse field returns will contribute to ongoing product improvements. Success in this role requires a passion for collaboration across functions—ensuring every project is launched safely—and a dedication to building lasting partnerships with customer engineering teams.

• Serve as the primary engineering liaison for automotive customers in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam, ensuring their technical needs are understood and addressed effectively.
• Develop innovative products and solutions by translating customer requirements into actionable product features, leading technical reviews, validation processes, and investigations.
• Deliver engaging technical presentations, trainings, and seminars to both external clients and internal colleagues to enhance knowledge sharing and brand influence.
• Create and update application-focused promotional materials and technical documentation tailored to specific customer segments.
• Provide expert support for field return parts analysis from an application perspective to drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate seamlessly with project managers, sales teams, quality assurance professionals, and other departments to ensure safe project launches and sustained business success.
• Build and nurture strong relationships with customer engineering teams through prompt responses and reliable support.
• Focus on key application areas such as two-wheelers, automotive powertrain systems, and chassis components to address evolving market demands.

What you bring:

To excel as a Senior Application Engineer in this role, you will bring a robust foundation in mechanical or automotive engineering coupled with practical experience developing products or applications for the automotive sector. Your background should include substantial exposure to customer-facing roles where your communication skills have enabled you to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions. A history of successful collaboration within multi-disciplinary teams will be essential as you work alongside sales, quality assurance, project management, and other departments. Your attention to detail when preparing technical documentation or analysing returned parts will set you apart. Additionally, your fluency in Thai and English allows you to bridge cultural gaps while supporting clients throughout Southeast Asia. If you have prior experience with bearings or have worked at major industry players—or if you come from an OEM background—you’ll find your expertise especially valued here.

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline is essential for this position.
• At least three years of hands-on experience in application or product development within the automotive bearings industry or similar mechanical component sectors is required.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both customers and internal stakeholders is vital for success.
• Proven track record of planning, coordinating projects efficiently, and working collaboratively within cross-functional teams is highly valued.
• Excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of teamwork are necessary for building trust-based relationships with clients.
• Experience working in an organised manner within fast-evolving environments ensures smooth project execution from start to finish.
• Knowledge of bearing technology or previous experience in bearing-related industries such as NTN or Schaeffler is preferred but not mandatory.
• Fluency in both Thai and English (written and spoken) is required to facilitate effective communication across regional teams.
• Willingness to travel domestically within Thailand as well as internationally across Southeast Asia demonstrates adaptability.
