You will play an integral role in advancing operational excellence, supporting sustainable business growth, and safeguarding the organisation’s risk profile through the implementation of robust credit processes. With a pronounced emphasis on continuous enhancement, stakeholder engagement, and the cultivation of talent, this appointment is ideally suited to an individual who flourishes within a collaborative environment and is committed to making a substantive contribution to both team performance and organisational achievement. Flexible working arrangements and access to comprehensive training resources are among the many advantages that await you as you embark upon this influential leadership journey.

  • Provide exemplary guidance to a dedicated team of credit analysts, nurturing a culture that values professional development, mutual support, and the sharing of expertise.
  • Champion the refinement and execution of rigorous credit processes, ensuring all proposals adhere to exacting internal standards whilst facilitating the attainment of strategic business objectives.
  • Engage constructively with senior stakeholders across diverse business lines, offering your considered judgement on complex transactions and contributing meaningfully to high-level decision-making forums.

What you'll do:

In your capacity as Head of Corporate Credit Risk, you will be entrusted with comprehensive oversight of corporate credit risk management within an international banking context. Your daily remit will involve guiding your team through intricate analyses encompassing financial statements, industry developments, macroeconomic indicators, and risk factors in order to produce meticulously prepared credit proposals. You will ensure that each stage of the credit process is executed in strict accordance with internal protocols while remaining attuned to evolving commercial imperatives. By fostering close cooperation between your team and various business units, you will facilitate informed decision-making on new engagements whilst maintaining vigilant controls over existing exposures. Your commitment to staff development - through recruitment efforts, tailored training programmes, and detailed performance reviews - will be instrumental in cultivating a resilient team capable of adapting seamlessly to shifting market dynamics. Furthermore, your active participation in cross-functional projects will enable you to make significant contributions towards enhancing operational efficiency and fortifying risk mitigation strategies.

  • Supervise and direct the Credit Analyst team, offering consistent guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback to foster optimal performance and ongoing professional advancement.
  • Oversee the timely preparation and completion of credit proposals, ensuring unwavering adherence to internal quality benchmarks and prevailing regulatory requirements throughout the entire credit portfolio.
  • Monitor compliance with internal credit policies on an ongoing basis, proactively identifying opportunities for procedural enhancement and implementing recognised best practices.
  • Review and validate credit proposals submitted by team members, ensuring thorough analysis and precise risk assessment in accordance with organisational expectations.
  • Support colleagues by maximising operational efficiency through mentoring initiatives, coaching sessions, and facilitating access to pertinent training programmes.
  • Conduct annual appraisals and comprehensive performance assessments for all direct reports, acknowledging accomplishments while addressing developmental needs in a constructive manner.
  • Coordinate recruitment activities within the department to attract individuals whose values align with those of the organisation.
  • Collaborate closely with senior management to provide portfolio oversight, anticipate emerging risks, and contribute valuable insights during deliberations on complex transactions or within credit committees.
  • Maintain open channels of communication with Business Lines, Coverage teams, regional offices, and other key stakeholders to streamline credit processes and ensure efficient information exchange.
  • Participate actively in projects designed to enhance credit process efficiency, including sectoral analysis initiatives, watchlist management undertakings, and permanent control framework enhancements.

What you bring:

To excel as Head of Corporate Credit Risk, you will possess substantial experience acquired from previous appointments focused on managing corporate credit portfolios within leading financial institutions. Your background should encompass direct responsibility for leading teams engaged in sophisticated financial analysis - translating intricate data into actionable insights that underpin prudent lending decisions. You will have cultivated strong collaborative relationships across business lines by consistently providing reliable counsel on matters pertaining to risk whilst supporting broader commercial objectives. Your approach is characterised by analytical precision coupled with empathy; you appreciate how best to motivate colleagues through positive reinforcement whilst maintaining accountability for outcomes. A deep understanding of regulatory compliance issues is indispensable given your influence over policy adherence; equally vital is your openness towards embracing new technologies or methodologies that may further reinforce operational resilience. Above all else, your passion for developing others - whether through formalised training sessions or informal mentorship - will distinguish you as an inspiring leader devoted not only to organisational prosperity but also individual advancement.

  • Extensive experience in corporate credit risk management within an international banking or financial services environment is essential for success in this role.
  • A demonstrable record of supervising or managing teams of credit analysts or comparable professionals with an emphasis on nurturing talent through structured coaching and constructive feedback mechanisms.
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial statement analysis—including advanced spreading techniques—and the ability to distil complex data into clear recommendations aligned with internal governance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilising internal rating tools (such as RAROC simulations) for accurate assessment of risk profiles across diverse corporate clientele.
  • Thorough familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing corporate lending activities as well as operational permanent control requirements within large-scale organisations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling effective communication with both internal stakeholders (including Business Lines and Coverage teams) as well as external clients when necessary.
  • Experience participating in or presenting at credit committees or analogous governance forums where complex transactions are discussed collaboratively.

  • A steadfast commitment to continuous learning evidenced by active engagement in training programmes aimed at enhancing both technical acumen and soft skills relevant to credit analysis roles.
