A rapidly growing fintech company in Bangkok is seeking an experienced Head of Risk to lead its credit risk, underwriting, and provisioning strategy across a fast‑scaling digital lending portfolio.

What you'll do:


As Head of Risk, you will play a central role in shaping the future of digital lending by embedding rigorous risk management practices at every stage of the customer journey. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to design robust frameworks that balance growth ambitions with prudent governance. You will be instrumental in developing sophisticated analytical tools for monitoring portfolio health while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory standards. By fostering a culture of transparency and continuous improvement within your team, you will help drive responsible expansion while safeguarding organisational interests. Your ability to translate complex data into strategic recommendations will be crucial in maintaining optimal performance across all lending activities.


* Lead the development and execution of the enterprise risk management framework covering credit, fraud, and operational risks across the organisation.
* Define comprehensive risk policies, set clear risk appetite thresholds, and establish governance structures aligned with both business objectives and regulatory requirements.
* Establish key risk indicators (KRIs) and early-warning systems to proactively monitor portfolio performance and identify emerging risks.
* Oversee credit risk management throughout the entire lending lifecycle including origination, underwriting, ongoing monitoring, collections, and recoveries.
* Drive the enhancement of credit scoring models, segmentation strategies, and decision rules to support data-driven decision making.
* Monitor portfolio metrics such as non-performing loans (NPLs), default rates, and losses while providing actionable insights to senior leadership.
* Own the end-to-end provisioning process including Expected Credit Loss (ECL) modelling under IFRS 9 standards.
* Partner with Finance to ensure accurate provisioning calculations and transparent financial reporting processes.
* Lead advanced portfolio analytics initiatives including stress testing and scenario analysis to inform overall risk strategy.
* Engage regularly with auditors, regulators, internal governance committees, and build a high-performing risk team through supportive leadership.


What you bring:


To excel as Head of Risk in this forward-thinking digital lending environment, you will bring extensive experience from similar roles within financial services or fintech sectors. Your background should reflect deep technical knowledge of credit risk assessment techniques alongside practical expertise in IFRS 9 provisioning frameworks. You will have demonstrated success building collaborative relationships across diverse teams—translating complex analytical findings into actionable business strategies. Your interpersonal skills will enable you to engage constructively with both internal stakeholders and external partners such as regulators or auditors. * Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Statistics or related field; Master’s or MBA preferred for deeper subject matter expertise.
* 8–12+ years’ experience managing credit risk or provisioning within financial services, lending institutions or fintech environments.
* Demonstrated expertise in IFRS 9 / ECL provisioning frameworks with hands-on experience implementing these methodologies at scale.
* Proficiency in developing data-driven credit models using tools such as Excel, SQL, Python or R for advanced analytics.
* Comprehensive understanding of credit risk metrics including portfolio performance analysis and provisioning methodologies relevant to digital lending platforms.
* Proven track record leading teams effectively while nurturing collaboration across multiple departments such as Product, Data Science, Finance and Operations.
* Strong stakeholder management skills enabling effective communication with auditors, regulators and internal governance bodies.
* Experience designing KRIs and early-warning indicators for proactive portfolio monitoring is highly desirable.
* Certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager) or data analytics credentials (e.g., SQL, Python, Power BI) are advantageous but not mandatory.
