Non-Motor, Claim Director

Save job

* Play a key role in defining and executing claims strategies that align with organisational objectives while ensuring regulatory compliance and financial integrity. * Lead a dedicated team across multiple non-motor insurance lines, fostering an inclusive culture focused on continuous improvement and exceptional customer care.

What you'll do:

As a Non-Motor Claims Director based in Bangkok, you will play an instrumental role in shaping the future of non-motor claims operations. Your day-to-day activities will involve setting strategic direction for the department while ensuring that every aspect of the claims process meets rigorous standards of accuracy and fairness. You will work closely with your team to foster a culture of transparency and efficiency that consistently delivers outstanding customer experiences. By collaborating with various internal stakeholders—including Underwriting, Legal, Actuarial, and Reinsurance—you will help drive initiatives that support both operational excellence and compliance. Your analytical skills will be put to use as you interpret data trends to inform senior management decisions. Additionally, you will act as an ambassador for the company during negotiations or disputes with external parties. Success in this role means not only meeting but exceeding expectations for service quality while maintaining robust financial controls.

  • Define comprehensive strategies and policies for non-motor claims management that are fully aligned with the broader goals of the organisation.
  • Supervise all aspects of the claims process from initial notification through assessment, approval, and settlement to guarantee accuracy, fairness, and timely resolution for every case.
  • Oversee a diverse team handling claims across Property, Fire, Engineering, Liability, Travel, and other non-motor insurance products to ensure consistent service quality.
  • Continuously enhance operational processes and service standards to improve efficiency, transparency, and overall customer satisfaction within the claims department.
  • Monitor claim reserves diligently to maintain adequacy in line with financial standards and regulatory requirements such as those set by the OIC.
  • Collaborate effectively with Underwriting, Legal, Actuarial, Reinsurance, and other departments to support all claim-related matters and initiatives.
  • Analyse complex claims data regularly to track claim ratios and prepare insightful strategic reports for senior management decision-making.
  • Manage claim expenses prudently while identifying risks proactively to optimise profitability and safeguard the company’s financial performance.
  • Represent the organisation in high-stakes claim negotiations or disputes while nurturing strong relationships with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Non-Motor Claims Director position brings extensive experience from within the non-life insurance sector—particularly in managing complex portfolios spanning Property, Fire, Engineering, Liability, Travel and more. Your academic background supports your practical expertise; you have demonstrated success navigating regulatory frameworks like those set by OIC. Your approach combines analytical rigour with empathy—enabling you to resolve issues thoughtfully while keeping customer needs at the forefront. As someone who thrives on collaboration rather than competition, you excel at building consensus among diverse teams. Your communication style is clear yet considerate; you are adept at translating technical information into actionable insights for colleagues at all levels. Professional development is important to you; if you hold additional certifications or licenses they further underscore your commitment to excellence in this field.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, Business Administration, Insurance or a related field is required for this position.
  • A minimum of 10–15 years’ experience managing non-life insurance claims demonstrates your deep understanding of industry practices.
  • Expertise across non-motor claims including Property, Fire, Engineering, Liability, Travel and other relevant lines is essential for success in this role.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of insurance law along with familiarity with claim regulations and compliance requirements such as those mandated by OIC is necessary.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities combined with sound judgement enable you to solve problems strategically within complex environments.
  • Proven ability to lead large teams effectively while nurturing talent through supportive leadership practices is highly valued here.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills allow you to communicate clearly across internal teams as well as build positive relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications such as ANZIIF membership or CII qualifications—or holding an OIC license—will be considered advantageous.
