Financial Control Analyst

What you'll do:

As a Financial Control Analyst based in Bangkok, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the organisation’s finance operations. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve verifying administrative expense transactions for accuracy and compliance with established guidelines. You will review travel accounts data meticulously to ensure consistency across reports while preparing insightful management reports that inform decision-making.

Success in this role requires attention to detail when monitoring compliance with fiduciary requirements across payroll, accounts payable, travel expenses, and technical assistance claims. You will also have opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from different departments on process improvements that drive efficiency within financial administration.

  • Support the processing of administrative expense and technical assistance transactions by ensuring eligibility, accuracy, adherence to policies, administrative orders, and contract terms through careful verification and monitoring of payment timeliness.
  • Review travel accounts data, transactions, and reports for accuracy, consistency, propriety, and compliance with established practices while performing detailed analysis of financial data to prepare comprehensive management reports.
  • Participate actively in developing, testing, enhancing, and implementing IT systems used for business travel by reviewing current processes and providing constructive suggestions for system improvements.
  • Process technical assistance claims disbursement and liquidation vouchers for consultants, contractors, and service providers under grants and trust funds by ensuring all disbursement activities comply with contract provisions and relevant policies.
  • Process various financial transactions to ensure their validity and propriety while maintaining strict adherence to appropriate accounting policies throughout all stages of accounting.
  • Take part in projects aimed at enhancing organisational resilience preparedness by assisting in the preparation and revision of plans during disruptions and supporting regular training initiatives for important activities.
  • Organise and implement regular training sessions following organisational resilience plans while participating in simulations and exercises alongside multiple divisions and departments within the organisation.
  • Monitor compliance with fiduciary requirements related to internal financial control by conducting thorough reviews of documentation associated with payroll, accounts payable, travel expenses, and technical assistance claims.
  • Contribute to process enhancements by identifying areas for improvement within existing workflows related to financial administration duties.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Financial Control Analyst position brings proven experience from large-scale organisations where they have managed complex accounting or auditing tasks using advanced computerised systems. Your educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance—preferably complemented by CPA certification—which equips you with deep knowledge of international accounting standards. You possess strong analytical abilities that enable you to interpret financial data accurately while maintaining systematic processes throughout transaction reviews. Your proficiency with ERP platforms like Oracle or SAP ensures seamless integration into the organisation’s technology landscape. You are comfortable navigating databases to generate insightful reports tailored for management needs. Beyond technical expertise, your interpersonal skills shine when collaborating within multicultural teams; you thrive on co-operation and shared goals. Written communication comes naturally whether drafting reports or engaging stakeholders across departments.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance is required; a Certified Public Accountant or equivalent designation is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting standards, systems, general procedures for payment processing, reporting requirements prevalent in international institutions is essential.
  • At least five years’ experience in accounting or auditing roles within large organisations using computerised accounting systems is necessary.
  • Proficiency in standard software programs used by multilateral development banks such as Oracle ERP or SAP along with strong database skills for producing both standardised and ad hoc financial reports is expected.
  • In-depth understanding of clerical procedures and guidelines relevant to finance operations coupled with appreciation for their importance within the broader work area is vital.
  • Analytical mindset paired with systematic approach towards problem-solving; strong numerical skills are crucial for success.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively within cross-cultural teams; ability to co-operate constructively as an active team participant is required.
  • Written and verbal proficiency in English must be demonstrated through previous professional experience or academic achievement.
