CFO (International School)

A prestigious international school is seeking a CFO to join its senior leadership team. As CFO, you will be at the heart of decision-making, collaborating with academic, pastoral, and operational leaders to safeguard educational quality while driving responsible resource management.

What you'll do:

• Develop and implement the school’s financial strategy by aligning resources, reserves, investment, and funding with educational priorities and long-term plans.
• Advise the Principal, owners, and Governors on financial opportunities, constraints, risks arising from enrolment trends, staffing needs, fee structures, inflation impacts, capital plans, and new initiatives.
• Lead and nurture the finance team by setting clear responsibilities, service standards, professional development pathways, succession planning strategies, and ethical expectations.
• Oversee annual budgeting processes and rolling forecasts by integrating enrolment data, fee schedules, staffing requirements, departmental expenditures, maintenance costs, capital investments, and commercial activities.
• Provide timely monthly management accounts including cash-flow forecasts, key indicators, variance analysis to the Principal.
• Recommend tuition fees and other charges using market analysis; ensure approval by appropriate governance bodies based on enrolment objectives and cost considerations.
• Oversee integrity of accounting systems including general ledger reconciliations; ensure accurate management/statutory reporting issued according to agreed timetables.
• Coordinate external audits with qualified advisers; maintain records meeting requirements of auditors/tax authorities/regulators; manage banking relationships; develop funding strategies for major capital projects.
• Monitor cash, liquidity and working capital; maintain reliable cash-flow forecasts and contingency arrangements.
• Lead the financial strategy and framework for tuition fees, discounts, scholarships, and other fee assistance arrangmeents, balancing market positioning, enrolment objectives, affordibility and proposed contribution.
• Maintain the financial risk and internal control framework, including regular assessment of fraud, liquidity, credit, tax, funding, insurance and financial reporting risks.

What you bring:

• A degree plus recognised professional accountancy qualification such as CPA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent accepted by the school.
• Substantial progressively responsible finance experience including leadership of a significant finance function direct support to senior executives or governing body is required.
• Strong technical capability in management/statutory reporting budgeting forecasting cash-flow management audit tax internal control finance systems is vital.
• Demonstrated experience in financial modelling major contracts capital investment communicating complex financial information clearly to non-financial leaders is necessary.
• Excellent written/spoken English ability to work effectively with Thai-speaking colleagues/external stakeholders is mandatory.
• Experience managing school fees commercial ventures financing insurance governance committees would add value.
