Accounting Director

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounting Director to join a well-established organisation based in the heart of Bangkok. This role offers you the chance to take ownership of the entire accounting function, leading a large team and driving operational excellence across all financial activities.

What you'll do:

• Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring that daily operations run smoothly and efficiently within a large team environment.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in strict accordance with applicable accounting standards such as IFRS.
• Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, maintaining high levels of data accuracy while meeting all critical deadlines.
• Re-engineer existing accounting workflows to streamline processes, reduce turnaround times, and enhance overall operational effectiveness.
• Establish and maintain comprehensive internal controls designed to safeguard company assets and ensure full regulatory compliance at all times.
• Lead audit processes by transitioning from local firms to Big 4 auditors, addressing findings promptly to strengthen financial credibility.
• Resolve complex tax issues including VAT compliance, withholding tax recovery, and proactively identify opportunities for tax savings across the business.
• Oversee the implementation of digital tools such as E-tax invoice systems to modernise accounting operations and improve efficiency.
• Serve as Project Manager for ERP system implementation projects (such as Microsoft Dynamics 365), ensuring seamless integration with current systems.
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership, external auditors, tax authorities, and cross-functional teams to align accounting strategies with broader business objectives.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required; holding a CPA or equivalent certification would be highly advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years’ progressive experience in accounting roles is essential, including significant time spent in leadership positions within the retail industry or similar sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large teams within environments that require quick adaptation to changing priorities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international accounting standards such as IFRS, along with strong familiarity with tax regulations, audit processes, and internal control frameworks.
• Hands-on experience implementing ERP systems as well as leading digital transformation initiatives within accounting operations.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills focused on process improvement and achieving operational excellence across all areas of responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills enabling effective engagement with stakeholders at every level both inside and outside the organisation.
• Proven track record of successfully managing audits involving transition from local firms to Big 4 auditors while addressing findings efficiently.
• Experience resolving complex tax issues including VAT compliance and withholding tax recovery whilst identifying opportunities for cost savings.
