Chief Investment Officer (utilities and infrastructure)
A leading organisation in the utilities and infrastructure sector is seeking a Chief Investment Officer (x1 vacancy) to spearhead its investment strategy and portfolio management, driving sustainable business growth and maximising long-term shareholder value.
As Chief Investment Officer you will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s future by developing robust investment strategies that align with its vision for sustainable growth. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading multidisciplinary teams through every stage of the investment lifecycle

- Develop the overall investment strategy, policies, and portfolio in alignment with the organisation’s vision, strategic objectives, and business plans.
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of investment opportunities in strategic business sectors such as greenfield investments, brownfield investments, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), divestments, infrastructure projects, and new business ventures.
- Oversee comprehensive investment evaluations including feasibility studies, financial modelling, valuation methodologies, commercial assessments, due diligence processes, and investment structuring to support informed decision-making.
- Manage the organisation’s investment portfolio to achieve optimal risk-adjusted returns while considering financial costs, capital allocation strategies, and portfolio diversification requirements.
- Monitor macroeconomic trends as well as political, regulatory, market, social, environmental, and industry developments that may impact investment decisions; recommend appropriate strategic responses to mitigate risks or seize opportunities.
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with investors, financial institutions, strategic partners, government agencies, advisors, and other key stakeholders to support the organisation’s investment objectives.
- Promote best practices within the Investment function by enhancing organisational capabilities and fostering a high-performance culture among team members.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, corporate governance standards, and internal investment policies throughout all stages of the investment process.
- Lead culturally-diverse cross-functional teams in delivering large-scale projects both domestically and internationally within the infrastructure or utilities sector.
- Present complex investment proposals clearly to executive committees and Boards of Directors using excellent communication skills.
What you bring:
To excel as Chief Investment Officer you will bring extensive experience gained over at least two decades in relevant fields such as investment management or corporate finance—ideally within the infrastructure sector but also from consulting firms or organisations delivering major infrastructure projects. Your proven track record includes leading large-scale initiatives both locally in Thailand and internationally where you have demonstrated executive leadership capabilities. You possess deep expertise in analysing investments using advanced valuation methods alongside strong financial modelling skills. Your ability to manage cross-functional teams—regardless of their size—will be complemented by outstanding interpersonal abilities enabling you to build trust among stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. Presenting complex information clearly at board level comes naturally thanks to your polished communication style. Fluency in English ensures you can operate seamlessly within global networks while your commitment to compliance guarantees responsible stewardship throughout all phases of the investment process.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, Finance or related disciplines; candidates from diverse educational backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- At least 20 years of experience in relevant functions such as investment management or corporate finance within the infrastructure or utilities sector or consulting firms delivering infrastructure-related projects.
- Demonstrated executive leadership experience managing large-scale projects both domestically in Thailand and internationally; experience is not limited to corporate roles but includes consulting or organisations involved in renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of investment analysis techniques including valuation methodologies, financial modelling approaches, due diligence procedures and portfolio management principles.
- Minimum 10 years of executive-level experience in areas such as M&A transactions, project finance initiatives or strategic planning activities.
- Experience managing teams of more than 20 people is preferred; however candidates with leadership roles involving due diligence or large-scale project management will also be considered even if they have managed smaller teams.
- Proven ability to lead culturally-diverse cross-functional teams effectively across multiple geographies.
- Excellent communication skills including experience presenting complex proposals to executive committees or Boards of Directors.
- Very good command of English (both spoken and written) is essential for success in this role.
