Discovering the intriguing world of recruitment and finding fulfilment at Robert Walters.
Kanruthai Somchitrmool’s transition from being a Big 4 auditor to joining Robert Walters in 2015 was a significant turning point in her career. She reflects on the transferability of her skills from auditing to recruitment and expresses her enthusiasm for her new role. Kanruthai also highlights the vibrant culture that exists within the Bangkok office, emphasising what she enjoys about being part of the Robert Walters team.
Kanruthai recounts her journey below.
I made the move into recruitment because I had been working at a Big 4 consultancy firm for over three years and was ready for a new challenge. At that time, a close friend suggested a headhunter role, which piqued my interest. After researching recruitment as a career, I found it to be an intriguing next step. Among the various recruitment firms I considered, I was drawn to Robert Walters. Not only does it specialise in financial services recruitment, but it is also a large global firm that offers international opportunities.
My skills from my previous role as an auditor proved to be highly transferable to recruitment. With strong negotiation and client management skills, coupled with my financial background, I possessed a deep understanding of my candidates' roles and my clients' hiring requirements.
In my current role, I find great joy in meeting new people and witnessing the professional growth and fulfilment of my successfully placed candidates. Positive feedback from clients, affirming my ability to find the perfect fit for their organiations, is also rewarding.
Working at Robert Walters has been a fulfilling experience for me. The opportunity to collaborate with senior professionals within the company, who bring industry expertise and professionalism to their roles, has been inspiring. The team's determination and focus create a fantastic learning environment.
The company's commitment to developing its employees through regular training and support from the beginning is another aspect that I value.
Describing the culture in the Bangkok office, I can say that our team is incredibly close-knit and hardworking. We believe in open communication and always give our all, whether it's during work or team bonding activities. We genuinely enjoy going out together and socialising.
For those interested in pursuing a career in recruitment, I would advise being self-driven, motivated, and maintaining a positive attitude. Recruitment offers excellent earning potential and career progression for individuals committed, responsible, and determined to succeed. With these qualities, the opportunities are endless.
