When I joined Robert Walters, it felt like entering the unknown. During the chaotic COVID times and after a five-year break from corporate life, I wasn't sure where I belonged. I thought I'd continue in finance or investment roles, but life surprised me. As a candidate for Robert Walters, I was offered a chance to become a recruitment consultant. This unexpected opportunity greatly influenced my career path.
Robert Walters felt like a school to me. I had no idea what a "recruitment consultant" was since I had no experience in the field. Their training was excellent, turning beginners into skilled professionals. The four-month probation was challenging, with lots of new skills to learn and obstacles to overcome. But it taught me the importance of hard work and staying positive, which became the foundation of my success.
At Robert Walters, I grew both professionally and personally. I improved my communication skills, becoming more clear and direct. Resilience became key for me, knowing that persistence would lead to results. I also learned the importance of going the extra mile, realising that doing more than expected could double my results.
After three years at Robert Walters, I became curious about exploring opportunities outside the company. I wanted to understand how other recruitment agencies operated and whether I could succeed elsewhere. I often wondered if my skills would allow me to do well outside of Robert Walters.
Ultimately, I chose to return to Robert Walters for several important reasons. While I proved to myself that I could succeed in other places, I realised that what I was capable of doing and what I truly wanted to do were two different things. I was actively looking for a long-term work environment that supported both my physical health and mental well-being, and Robert Walters offered that balanced environment I was seeking. The people here were also a significant factor in my decision. The team felt like family, offering a supportive environment where I was always welcomed and embraced with warmth.
