Global Trade Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Global Trade Manager (x1 vacancy) to join a world-leading organisation in Bangkok, where your expertise will play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless and compliant international trade operations. With a focus on both local and international regulations, this role is perfect for someone who thrives in an environment that values knowledge-sharing, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
What you'll do:
As a Global Trade Manager based in Bangkok, you will be entrusted with overseeing the end-to-end compliance of international trade activities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close collaboration with both internal teams, logistics personnel, and external partners like customs brokers and government authorities. You will be instrumental in interpreting complex regulations, designing robust processes that facilitate smooth cross-border movement of goods, and delivering targeted training sessions that empower colleagues to maintain high standards of compliance. By managing vendor relationships and leading programme initiatives on a global scale, you will help safeguard the organisation’s trade privileges while driving operational improvements.
The package is attractive including guaranteed bonus, provident fund and health insurance
- Work proactively with key business partners and stakeholders to ensure all trade and non-trade imports and exports comply with relevant U.S., non-U.S., and local laws as well as company policies across Thailand ports of entry.
- Oversee compliance for all business functions by providing guidance on regulatory requirements, particularly focusing on customer service centres and logistics personnel to optimise their procedures.
- Review products and services for regulatory impact under frameworks such as Export Administration Regulation (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Customs regulations.
- Design, support, and continuously improve logistics processes at site, regional, or global levels to ensure efficient movement of goods across borders.
- Manage program initiatives including directing third-party vendors globally to achieve contract deliverables aligned with business objectives, conducting audits as necessary.
- Consult with internal customers—including legal counsel, order administration, customs officials—and external partners such as freight companies to guarantee full compliance with governmental import/export requirements.
- Communicate evolving global and domestic import/export regulation requirements clearly to all operating units within the organisation.
- Serve as the primary liaison for import/export matters between local, country, or international customers/subsidiaries and various internal departments such as distribution, procurement, planning, manufacturing, finance, regulatory affairs, and compliance functions.
- Manage duty reduction programmes for operating units while maintaining strong relationships with customs brokers through regular performance tracking, corrective action implementation, contract negotiation, and rate reviews.
What you bring:
To excel as a Global Trade Manager in this prominent organisation based in Bangkok, you will bring substantial expertise gained from previous roles focused on international trade compliance. Your educational background—ideally at postgraduate level—will be complemented by hands-on experience navigating intricate regulatory environments governing cross-border transactions. You are adept at building collaborative relationships across functional areas such as logistics operations or customer service centres while maintaining open lines of communication with external partners like customs brokers. Your approach combines analytical rigour with empathy when delivering training or consulting on sensitive matters involving government agencies. The ideal candidate demonstrates dependability when managing critical documentation processes or negotiating contracts under pressure. A commitment to continuous learning ensures you remain up-to-date on legislative developments affecting global commerce. Above all else, your interpersonal skills foster trust among colleagues who rely on your guidance during audits or investigations.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in International Trade, Finance, Accounting or related field; equivalent experience in international trade is also highly valued.
- Post-graduate certification or customs broker’s licence is highly desirable but not mandatory for this position.
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance with U.S., non-U.S., and local import/export regulations including EAR, ITAR, and Customs requirements.
- Proven ability to design logistics processes at site, regional or global level while supporting ongoing process improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing third-party vendors globally including contract negotiation, performance tracking, audit execution, and alignment with business objectives.
- Strong communication skills enabling effective interaction with regional/functional managers as well as country leadership teams.
- Ability to deliver engaging training sessions on trade compliance topics tailored for diverse audiences within the organisation.
- Track record of successful consultation with internal/external customers such as legal counsel or customs officials to resolve complex regulatory issues.
- Experience serving as an import/export liaison between multiple departments including distribution, procurement, planning, manufacturing, finance or regulatory affairs.
- Prior experience leading virtual teams or remotely managing resources is advantageous.
