Data Governance

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Governance Engineer to join a forward-thinking organisation in Bangkok, where your expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data management. This position offers you the chance to work within a collaborative and supportive team dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of data governance and quality across the business.

What you'll do:

As a Data Governance Engineer based in Bangkok, you will play an instrumental role in maintaining and enhancing the organisation’s enterprise-level data governance infrastructure. Your day-to-day activities will involve administering sophisticated platforms designed for metadata management, automating key processes to streamline operations, implementing advanced security measures tailored to protect sensitive information, and developing integration solutions that connect disparate systems. You will also be responsible for managing detailed lineage configurations that provide transparency into how data moves through various pipelines. By collaborating with both technical teams and business stakeholders, you will help embed best practices around data quality monitoring while continuously seeking ways to optimise platform efficiency. Success in this role requires a blend of technical proficiency, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for supporting others in their pursuit of reliable information.

  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Enterprise Data Governance Platform to ensure system stability, availability, and optimal performance for all users.
  • Set up automated metadata scanning from various sources such as cloud data lakes, databases, and business intelligence tools while troubleshooting connectivity issues including private endpoints and firewalls.
  • Implement technical data security controls within the platform by applying Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Dynamic Data Masking, and Row-Level Security policies according to architectural guidelines.
  • Develop automation scripts using Python and APIs to seamlessly integrate the governance platform with other tools, such as triggering catalog updates after ETL jobs via orchestration frameworks like Airflow.
  • Manage configurations for Data Lineage to ensure accurate capture and visualisation of end-to-end data flows supporting comprehensive impact analysis across systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineers to integrate Data Quality results into the Data Catalog, enhancing visibility into data health and reliability for stakeholders.
  • Monitor platform usage patterns and performance metrics to identify optimisation opportunities that reduce costs while maximising resource utilisation associated with governance services.
  • Support metadata management initiatives by mapping business glossary terms to physical data assets in accordance with industry standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall data governance maturity throughout the organisation.

What you bring:

To excel as a Data Governance Engineer in this environment, you will bring proven experience from previous roles involving enterprise-scale data management solutions. Your background should include hands-on work with modern governance platforms where you have configured systems for stability while ensuring compliance with industry standards. You are adept at writing efficient scripts in Python as well as crafting complex SQL queries that support automation initiatives. Your approach is grounded in best practices around metadata management—mapping business concepts accurately onto technical assets—and you are comfortable navigating challenging integration scenarios involving multiple technologies. In addition to your technical acumen, your ability to communicate clearly across teams ensures successful collaboration on projects ranging from security implementation through to quality monitoring. A keen eye for optimisation allows you not only to maintain but also enhance existing processes so they deliver maximum value over time.

  • A minimum of three years’ experience working in Data Engineering, Data Governance implementation or platform administration roles within complex environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with leading Data Governance & Catalog Platforms such as Unity Catalog, Microsoft Purview, Alation or Collibra gained through real-world project delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency in Python scripting and SQL for automating tasks, integrating APIs, and querying metadata repositories efficiently.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Metadata Management standards along with practical experience mapping business glossary terms to physical data assets within large organisations.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex integration challenges related to connectivity between cloud services, databases or BI tools including resolving firewall or endpoint issues.
  • Experience implementing technical security controls such as RBAC policies, dynamic masking techniques or row-level restrictions based on architectural requirements.
  • Familiarity with orchestrating automation workflows using tools like Airflow or similar scheduling frameworks for seamless process integration across platforms.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams including Data Engineers and Business Analysts on shared objectives.
  • Strong analytical mindset combined with attention to detail when monitoring platform usage metrics or optimising resource allocation strategies.
