Head of Data Engineering

About the Head of Data Engineering Role:

In this role, you will proactively drive the vision for BI and data warehousing across a product vertical, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision. You will enjoy attractive base salary and medical insurance for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build a high-quality BI and Data Warehousing team and design the team to scale. Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies
• Building analytical tools to utilise the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition
• Working with stakeholders including data, design, product and executive teams and assisting them with data-related technical issues
• Working with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues
• Work in close collaboration with the Product Manager to execute on our long-term roadmap
• Diligently gather requirements and capture as user stories that can be executed
• Proficiently capture an summarise stakeholder needs and goals in clear and concise themes, epics, and user stories

To succeed in this role, you must have good command of English.

Key Requirements:

• BA/BS in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or other technical fields
• Six years of experience in BI and Data Warehousing
• Experience scaling and managing 3+ person teams
• Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects
• Project management experience
• Data architecture experience
• Experience implementing/working on data warehouses, including data architecture, data pipelines on AWS cloud services and data visualisation tools (Data Studio, PowerBI etc.)
• Experience in data engineering techniques, such as API integration, SQL, NOSQL, Apache Airflow, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, MongoDB, Mysql, Postgres
• Experience with Scrum methodology, or experience working as a product manager or part of a product team
