A leading multinational organisation is seeking an APAC Category Manager to spearhead sourcing and procurement strategies across the region. This role offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact by ensuring cost effectiveness, nurturing client relationships, and evaluating supplier performance. You will be at the forefront of category management for mechanical and electronic commodities, collaborating with cross-functional teams and driving innovative approaches to procurement.

What you'll do:

As an APAC Category Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s sourcing and procurement landscape across the region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve identifying new opportunities for process improvement, collaborating with various departments to align strategies, managing contracts efficiently, and implementing innovative approaches such as localisation or single versus multiple sourcing.

  • Identify new opportunities within the APAC region to enhance sourcing and procurement processes, ensuring optimal cost savings and value creation.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across departments to ensure alignment of procurement strategies with organisational goals.
  • Manage contracts effectively by negotiating terms, monitoring compliance, and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Drive new sourcing and procurement strategies including localisation efforts, single versus multiple sourcing decisions, and other innovative approaches tailored to regional needs.
  • Lead category management initiatives for mechanical and electronic commodities, ensuring best practices are implemented throughout the supply chain.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly using established metrics to ensure quality standards are met and sustained.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders by providing reliable support and clear communication throughout all stages of procurement.
  • Implement cost-saving measures year-on-year by analysing data trends and identifying areas for improvement within sourcing activities.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the APAC Category Manager position will bring extensive experience from the machinery or automotive sectors—particularly those involving mechanical parts or electronics—alongside a deep understanding of sourcing principles.

  • Possess at least ten years of experience in sourcing and procurement within machinery or automotive industries involving mechanical parts and electronic components.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership qualities with proven ability to guide regional teams towards shared objectives through supportive leadership.
  • Exhibit advanced negotiation skills coupled with deep understanding of sourcing concepts and procurement methodologies.
  • Showcase a track record of achieving year-on-year cost savings through diligent analysis and implementation of strategic initiatives.
  • Display excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to build trust-based relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders alike.
  • Bring comprehensive knowledge of contract management including negotiation, compliance monitoring, and relationship maintenance.
