What you'll do:

As a Professional Affairs Manager (Optometrist), you will immerse yourself in a dynamic environment where your expertise will directly influence the adoption of cutting-edge biometric intelligence glasses. Your daily activities will involve designing impactful training programmes for optical professionals, coaching your team members towards excellence, facilitating educational workshops, and maintaining up-to-date clinical data. You will also nurture relationships with influential figures in the field while providing invaluable scientific support both inside the company and out in the marketplace. By collaborating closely with sales and marketing colleagues, you will help shape strategies that drive business growth while representing the organisation at key industry events. Success in this role means being proactive in sharing knowledge, supporting others’ development, and consistently delivering value through every interaction.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive optometric training strategies designed to build belief and confidence among practitioners recommending advanced lens solutions to end users.
  • Coach and mentor two direct subordinates, fostering their professional growth while ensuring alignment with organisational goals and standards.
  • Organise and facilitate engaging seminar workshops that enhance clinical understanding and promote best practices across the optical network.
  • Continuously update relevant data sets to ensure all stakeholders have access to the latest scientific insights and market trends.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in ophthalmology and optometry, driving advocacy for innovative products within the industry.
  • Provide expert scientific knowledge and clinical support both internally to colleagues and externally to clients, ensuring accurate information dissemination.
  • Work collaboratively with sales and marketing teams to align professional affairs initiatives with broader business objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by recommending tailored solutions to clients based on their unique needs and market positioning.
  • Represent the organisation as a speaker at conferences, seminars, and industry events, enhancing brand visibility and credibility within the sector.

What you bring:

To excel as a Professional Affairs Manager (Optometrist), you will bring not only technical expertise but also outstanding interpersonal skills that enable you to connect meaningfully with colleagues, clients, and industry leaders. Your background should reflect hands-on experience in optometry or ophthalmology—ideally spanning at least five years—alongside demonstrated success in developing training programmes that empower others. You are adept at coaching team members towards achieving their potential while remaining sensitive to their individual learning styles. Your approach is rooted in collaboration; you thrive when working together with diverse teams toward common goals. A keen eye for detail ensures your data management is always precise, while your ability to communicate complex scientific concepts makes you an invaluable resource during client consultations or public speaking engagements. Above all else, your commitment to continuous learning keeps you at the forefront of advancements in premium lens technology.

  • Hold at least five years of experience within the ophthalmic or optometric sector, demonstrating deep familiarity with clinical practice and industry standards.
  • Possess proven skills in developing effective training strategies that inspire confidence among practitioners recommending advanced lens technologies.
  • Demonstrate experience coaching or mentoring junior colleagues or direct reports within a professional setting.
  • Showcase strong abilities in organising seminar workshops or similar educational events aimed at knowledge transfer within healthcare or optical industries.
  • Exhibit proficiency in updating clinical data records to ensure accuracy and relevance for internal teams and external partners alike.
  • Have a track record of building productive relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) in ophthalmology or optometry circles.
  • Display excellent communication skills when providing scientific knowledge or clinical support both internally across departments and externally to clients.
  • Work effectively as part of cross-functional teams alongside sales and marketing professionals to achieve shared objectives.
