What you'll do:

• Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and other dispute resolution forums, ensuring their interests are protected at every stage.
• Prepare comprehensive legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, and other litigation-related materials with meticulous attention to detail.
• Conduct thorough legal research on relevant statutes, case law, regulations, and precedents to support case strategies and client advice.
• Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments to develop effective litigation strategies that align with client objectives and organisational values.
• Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on case progress, explain complex legal concepts in accessible language, and offer empathetic guidance throughout the litigation process.
• Negotiate settlements when appropriate by engaging in considerate discussions with opposing counsel while prioritising client needs and outcomes.
• Manage case files efficiently by organising evidence, tracking deadlines, coordinating witness statements, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Attend hearings, trials, depositions, and other legal proceedings as required, presenting arguments clearly and respectfully before judges or panels.
• Support junior team members through mentoring and knowledge-sharing activities that foster professional growth within the department.
• Stay informed about changes in local laws, regulations, and industry trends by participating in training sessions and networking events.

What you bring:

• Demonstrated experience handling litigation matters within a reputable law firm over 3 years.
• Excellent written communication skills evidenced by drafting clear pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, and other legal documents.
• Strong interpersonal abilities enabling you to build trust-based relationships with clients while providing sensitive guidance during challenging times.
• Proven research capabilities using online databases as well as traditional resources to identify relevant statutes, case law, regulations, or precedents.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams by sharing insights openly and contributing positively towards shared goals.
• Sound judgement when negotiating settlements or advising clients on potential risks associated with different courses of action.
• Meticulous organisational skills for managing multiple cases simultaneously without compromising accuracy or timeliness.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development demonstrated by participation in training programmes or industry seminars.
