Mid-Level Associate in Labour Law or M&A Salary: Competitive and based on experience Location: Bangkok An exceptional opportunity awaits for a talented Mid-Level Associate with 5–7 years of post-qualification experience to join a prestigious international law firm based in Bangkok. This role is tailored for professionals who have honed their expertise in either labour law or mergers and acquisitions (M&A), offering the chance to work on high-quality, cross-border matters alongside seasoned partners and senior lawyers from both Japan and Thailand. The firm is renowned for its supportive, collaborative culture and commitment to professional growth, providing you with a clear pathway for career advancement. You will be entrusted with significant responsibility, managing cases or transactions independently while serving as a trusted advisor to an impressive roster of multinational clients, many of whom are leading Japanese corporations. With a focus on delivering practical, client-centred solutions in a multicultural setting, this position promises not only challenging legal work but also the satisfaction of making a tangible impact within a dynamic team environment.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and manage labour and employment law matters for corporate clients, ensuring all advice aligns with local regulations and best practices.
  • Provide comprehensive advisory services on labour disputes, compliance issues, employment contracts, internal policies, and termination procedures to support clients’ business objectives.
  • Represent clients during negotiations or when liaising with relevant government agencies to resolve employment-related matters efficiently and amicably.
  • Draft and review a wide range of employment-related documents including settlement agreements, HR policies, regulatory filings, and other essential documentation required by corporate clients.
  • Work closely with Japanese clients to deliver tailored solutions that meet both local legal requirements and international standards.
  • Take charge of legal workstreams on M&A transactions by conducting due diligence, drafting share purchase agreements (SPA) and shareholders’ agreements (SHA), structuring deals, handling regulatory filings, and overseeing closing processes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial and corporate agreements to safeguard client interests throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams as well as external stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions to ensure seamless execution of complex transactions.
  • Support partners in managing large-scale transactions while guiding junior team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for clients by providing timely, practical legal advice; prepare high-quality legal documentation; manage cases or transactions with minimal supervision; collaborate with bilingual staff; and contribute to business development initiatives.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.); holding an LL.M. is considered advantageous for this position.
  • Possess 5–7 years post-qualification experience specifically within labour law or mergers & acquisitions practice areas at a respected law firm.
  • Demonstrate strong drafting abilities along with analytical thinking skills that enable you to solve complex legal problems efficiently.
  • Exhibit fluency in English—both written and spoken—to facilitate effective communication with international clients and colleagues alike.
  • Showcase proven capability to lead cases or transactions independently while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Display a client-oriented mindset coupled with sensitivity towards cultural nuances inherent in working within a multicultural environment.
  • Experience working directly with Japanese clients is highly desirable though not mandatory for consideration.
  • Ability to collaborate seamlessly within diverse teams comprising lawyers from different jurisdictions enhances your suitability for this role.
  • A track record of preparing high-quality legal documentation reflects your attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
  • Willingness to support business development initiatives demonstrates your proactive approach towards contributing beyond core responsibilities.
