Legal and Compliance Manager Location: Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate Report to: Head of Legal Key skills: Commercial Contracts, Compliance and Intellectual Property. A reputable electronics manufacturing services company with a strong presence in Thailand, is seeking to employ a Legal and Compliance Manager (x1) in its office based in Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate. This is the role for a bright and outgoing individual to join a reputable company.

What you’ll do:

The Legal and Compliance Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring legal compliance, mitigating risks, and providing strategic legal advice to support the company's operations in Thailand. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a wide range of legal issues, including legal compliance, contract negotiation, intellectual property and risk assessment and mitigation.

Legal Compliance:

  • Provide legal opinions and advices to all department of the company in relation to the business activities to comply with the applicable laws
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international laws and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Contract Review and Negotiation:

  • Draft, review, amend, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure compliance with legal requirements and mitigate risks.

Intellectual Property:

  • Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
  • Ensure protection of company’s intellectual property rights.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify compliance issues and potential liabilities.
  • Develop strategies and action plans to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.

Policy Development:

  • Develop, implement, and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to employees and ensure understanding and adherence.

Training and Education:

  • Conduct compliance training sessions and promote a culture of compliance and ethics for employees at all levels.

Internal Relations and Investigations:

  • Provide guidance and handle employment law matters or any legal issues related to employee relations, terminations, and disputes.
  • Manage and mentor a team of legal and compliance professionals. Provide guidance on complex legal issues and foster professional development
  • Manage and conduct internal investigations into compliance violations or allegations.
  • Implement corrective actions and monitor outcomes.

External Relations:

  • Liaise with external legal counsel, regulatory bodies, and auditors as necessary.
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings or regulatory matters.
  • Prepare, manage and register with the government as requested by the company.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports related to compliance activities.
  • Report regularly to senior management and the Board of Directors on compliance status and initiatives.

Regulatory Oversight:

  • Stay updated on regulatory developments affecting the industry and advise management on compliance implications.
  • Coordinate regulatory filings and responses to regulatory inquiries.

What you bring:

To be success in the Legal and Compliance Manager role, the ability to advise and guide internal business partners and collaborating personnel as well as work effectively with the business units, is of utmost necessity.

  • Bachelor's degree in Law; Master's degree or additional qualifications preferred.
  • Admitted to practice law in Thailand.
  • Have a lawyer’s license.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in corporate legal or related fields.
  • Good knowledge in Business Law, and Public Company Law.
  • Able to read and write English agreement well .
