Reporting directly to the Financial Planning and Controlling Manager, this role provides for a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic work environment.

What you’ll do:

The Legal Manager plays a pivotal role in driving the legal framework of the company, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and proactively minimizing legal risks, particularly in hire purchase contracts. This position offers strategic guidance and robust support across a diverse array of legal matters, reinforcing the company’s commitment to adherence to all relevant regulations.

• Legal Advisory:
• Deliver expert legal advice and strategic support to senior management and various departments, with a strong focus on the collections and commercial finance team.
• Translate complex legal information into clear, actionable insights for non-legal personnel.

Commercial Contract Review:

• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including service agreements, supplier contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and partnership agreements.
• Ensure every contract meets legal requirements and aligns with company policies.
• Identify and mitigate risks tied to contractual obligations proactively.
• Collaborate seamlessly with other departments to assess their contractual needs and provide prompt legal support.

Compliance and Litigation Management:

• Vigilantly monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, especially hire purchase activity, cheque process, and asset foreclosure, implementing necessary updates to company policies and procedures.
• Oversee compliance audits, ensuring the company consistently meets all legal and regulatory benchmarks.
• Take charge of managing and overseeing the company’s involvement in legal proceedings, working closely with external counsel and preparing essential documentation.
• Craft and execute strategic plans for litigation and dispute resolution, protecting the company's interests.

Policy Development and Implementation:

• Lead the drafting, implementation, and management of internal policies and procedures to uphold the best legal practices.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of company policies to ensure alignment with current legal standards.

Team Management:

• Inspire and mentor the legal team, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment.
• Allocate resources effectively and manage workflow to guarantee the timely completion of all legal projects.

What you bring:

To be successful in the Legal Manager role, the ability to advise and guide the company on legal and litigious solutions as well as working effectively with the business units, is of utmost necessity.

• Bachelor’s degree in law.
• Have an Attorney-At-Law license
• A well-defined written contract in English.
• A minimum of 7–10 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 2–5 years in a managerial capacity.
• Extensive knowledge of corporate, contract, and commercial law.
• Exceptional multitasking and communication skills, with a proven ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication capabilities.
• Proven track record in managing complex legal projects successfully.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
