Head of Legal

Head of Legal Location: Bangkok CBD This international bank is seeking a highly experienced Head of Legal who will be responsible for overseeing and managing all legal matters. The role requires extensive knowledge and experience in banking laws and regulations, with a particular focus on corporate and wholesale banking.

The ideal candidate should possess strong team management skills and be comfortable working with senior team members. In addition, the candidate should have a background in banking or financial services sector.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice and guidance to the management team, board of directors, and various departments within the organization, with a focus on corporate and wholesale banking.
• Review and draft legal documents, contracts, and agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and protecting the organization's interests.
• Manage and supervise a team of legal professionals, providing guidance, mentoring, and support to ensure their professional growth and efficient handling of legal matters.
• Coordinate and support litigation proceedings related to debt recovery, working closely with external legal counsels and other relevant parties.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement policies and procedures that align with legal requirements and best practices.
• Support the CEO and senior management in administrative tasks, including overseeing office operations, and facilitating training opportunities.
• Maintain a productive and harmonious work environment, effectively managing team dynamics, including senior team members with strong personalities.
• Uphold a strong work ethic, ensuring all team members adhere to office policies.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in law or a related field. Master's degree or higher is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a legal role within the banking industry, with a focus on corporate and wholesale banking.
• Strong knowledge of banking laws, regulations, and corporate governance frameworks.
• Experience in litigation, particularly in debt recovery proceedings is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and develop a high-performing legal team.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and provide practical legal advice.
• A high level of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
