Our client is seeking a passionate and committed Head of Safety to lead their team. This role is integral to the organisation's commitment to safety, health, environment and sustainability (SHE). The successful candidate will be responsible for driving continuous SHE improvement, managing local SHE agendas, and contributing to strategic SHE objectives. This role offers an opportunity to influence change, develop a long-term vision for safety culture, and contribute significantly to the company's purpose 'Nourishing by Nature'.

What you'll do:

As the Head of Safety, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, health, environment and sustainability (SHE) standards are upheld within the organisation. You will be responsible for supporting the plant manager on all aspects of SHE compliance, developing training programmes on SHE topics, obtaining necessary permits from local authorities, representing the business group on SHE matters in various project groups, creating a long-term vision for safety culture, conducting internal audits and supervising safety reports. Your leadership skills will be crucial in driving change and fostering a proactive approach towards dynamic risk assessment.

  • Ensure the organisation and execution of the year plan in line with department/plant strategy.
  • Support plant manager on safety, health and environmental compliance.
  • Develop and execute training courses or programs on SHE items.
  • Obtain and maintain permits from local authorities in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Represent Business Group on SHE topics in relevant internal and external project groups.
  • Create long term vision to ensure next level on safety culture and translate this into a supported annual SHE plan.
  • Conduct internal audits and supervise safety reports.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Head of Safety position will bring a wealth of experience in managing SHE in an international environment. With a Higher Vocational / Bachelor degree in Safety Engineering, you will have developed strong leadership skills that enable you to effectively manage people. Your interpersonal communication skills will allow you to connect with individuals at all levels within the organisation. A determination to get to root causes coupled with your analytical skills will ensure you can effectively prioritise and make decisions. Your result-oriented approach, stress resistance, persuasiveness and stakeholder management skills will be key to your success in this role.

  • Higher Vocational / Bachelor degree in Safety Engineering.
  • +6 years’ experience in SHE, managing SHE in an international environment.
  • (People) Management / Leadership skills.
  • Interpersonal (communications) skills on all levels.
