What you'll do:

• Provide comprehensive legal advisory support to management teams, relevant departments, and branches on all legal and compliance-related matters, ensuring clarity and accuracy in every aspect.
• Draft, review, and offer guidance on the bank’s legal documentation as well as loan agreements, maintaining meticulous attention to detail throughout each process.
• Deliver timely legal advice and support for various bank projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure all initiatives are compliant with applicable laws.
• Assist in reviewing litigation documents required for legal proceedings, ensuring that all materials are prepared accurately and submitted promptly.
• Stay informed about new developments in corporate law, monitor court cases involving the bank, and keep abreast of updates or changes in regulations that may impact operations.
• Liaise effectively with government agencies and regulatory authorities regarding legal or litigation matters, representing the bank’s interests professionally at all times.
• Undertake additional assignments as directed by management or as assigned by group-level legal leadership, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to organisational needs.
• Manage litigation matters and complaints both against and by the bank, keeping group legal teams updated on case progress as required.
• Foster collaborative relationships across departments to promote a culture of compliance, transparency, and shared responsibility for legal risk management.

What you bring:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from a reputable university faculty of law is essential for this position.
• Extensive experience—at least 10 years—in providing legal services within either a law firm or banking industry environment is required.
• A thorough understanding of banking operations is necessary to navigate complex financial regulations effectively.
• Proficiency in drafting and reviewing basic banking and security documentation is expected for success in this role.
