This pivotal role is designed for an experienced professional who thrives on shaping regulatory frameworks that keep pace with the rapidly evolving world of digital finance. You will play a crucial part in overseeing the supervision and examination of foreign exchange businesses, cross-border remittance services, and exchange control policy, while also monitoring cutting-edge financial technologies such as stablecoins and blockchain-based assets. The organisation offers a collaborative environment where your expertise will directly influence national policy and support the safe integration of innovative financial solutions. With flexible working opportunities and a commitment to ongoing training and professional growth, this position provides the perfect platform for you to make a significant impact on the future of financial regulation.

What you'll do:

As a Regulatory Policy Manager – Foreign Exchange, Payments and Digital Assets based in Bangkok, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding the integrity of the nation’s financial ecosystem. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve close engagement with both established financial service providers and emerging fintech innovators. You will be instrumental in designing policies that not only protect consumers but also encourage responsible adoption of new technologies like stablecoins and blockchain. By collaborating with diverse stakeholders across public and private sectors, you will help shape regulations that are responsive to global trends while remaining sensitive to local needs. Success in this role requires a blend of technical expertise in foreign exchange operations, deep understanding of digital assets, strong analytical skills for risk assessment, and an inclusive approach to stakeholder engagement. Your work will have far-reaching impacts on how financial services evolve safely within an increasingly digital landscape.

  • Oversee the regulatory supervision and examination of foreign exchange businesses, including money changers and money transfer operators, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and standards.
  • Monitor cross-border remittance services to safeguard against risks related to capital flows, anti-money laundering, and consumer protection.
  • Develop, review, and update exchange control policies to reflect changes in domestic and international financial markets.
  • Track emerging financial technologies such as stablecoins, digital assets, blockchain applications, tokenisation initiatives, and digital payment platforms to assess their implications for the financial system.
  • Formulate forward-thinking regulatory policies that address risks arising from new business models in digital finance while promoting innovation within a secure framework.
  • Collaborate effectively with government agencies, private sector organisations, industry stakeholders, and other regulatory authorities to ensure cohesive policy implementation.
  • Lead or participate in supervisory examinations of licensed entities operating in the foreign exchange or digital asset sectors.
  • Analyse data trends related to financial innovation to inform risk assessments and recommend appropriate supervisory measures.
  • Provide expert guidance on complex issues involving capital flow management, FX transactions, or digital asset operations.
  • Support organisational transformation by mentoring team members, sharing knowledge generously, and contributing to talent development initiatives.

What you bring:

To excel as a Regulatory Policy Manager – Foreign Exchange, Payments and Digital Assets you will bring proven experience from roles involving regulatory supervision or operational oversight within money changing or money transfer businesses. Your background may include direct involvement with foreign exchange regulations or hands-on exposure to digital asset platforms leveraging blockchain technology. You are adept at analysing complex data sets to identify potential risks arising from technological innovation while remaining attuned to shifts in global market dynamics. Your interpersonal skills allow you to build trust-based relationships across multiple stakeholder groups—governmental agencies as well as private sector partners—ensuring effective policy implementation. As someone who values teamwork over hierarchy you are committed to nurturing talent within your team by sharing insights generously. Your strategic thinking is complemented by an openness to new ideas which helps foster an inclusive environment where everyone’s voice is heard. Above all your dedication ensures that regulatory frameworks remain robust yet adaptable enough for today’s fast-changing financial landscape.

  • Comprehensive understanding of foreign exchange ecosystems including cross-border payments, remittance services, and digital finance both domestically and internationally.
  • Hands-on experience supervising or examining money changer businesses (MC), money transfer operators (MT), or similar regulated entities within the financial sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of stablecoins, digital assets, blockchain technology, tokenisation processes, digital payments infrastructure, and their broader implications for capital flows.
  • Exceptional analytical abilities enabling you to assess risks associated with financial innovation while formulating effective regulatory responses aligned with global market developments.
  • Proven ability to collaborate constructively with government bodies, private sector organisations, industry groups, and fellow regulators on complex policy matters.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including experience leading teams through change management initiatives or organisational transformation projects.
  • Experience developing or implementing exchange control policies or managing capital flow regulations within a regulated environment.
  • Strong communication skills allowing you to convey complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences including policymakers and industry participants.
  • A strategic mindset supported by data-driven decision-making capabilities that enable you to anticipate challenges posed by emerging business models in digital finance.
  • Commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by active participation in training programmes or professional development activities.
